About SPS
So you want to know what SPS is?
SPS = Society of Physics Students
We are a student-run group in the MSU Physics-Astronomy Department. We
meet every other week on Mondays and are focused on physics and astronomy related topics. We invite various
professors to speak at our meetings about their research or a topic that interests them. In the past we have had
speakers talk about: Cryogenics, Dark Matter, Dark Energy, What is Matter?, The Physics of Rock Climbing, CERN,
MSU's Cyclotron, etc. In addition to these talks, we normally offer pizza, pop and cookies so there is a free
food "reward" to going (though the real reward should be the things you learn).
So if you are looking to learn new things while having a fun time and
eating free food, feel free to stop by. There are no requirements and no fees to join. All majors are
invited; you only have to have an interest in physics or astronomy (I guess that is a requirement). If you would
like more information or to be included in our email list, email the SPS Officers at sps@pa.msu.edu and we will
be happy to answer any questions.
